Local communities in Uasin gishu show unity after Peace talks.

Communities in the North rift region that had been divided after last year’s General Election Wednesday displayed a rare show of unity following a peace building initiative by North Rift Civil Society Forum.  Elders representing the two communities agreed to continue co-existing peacefully after the forum challenged them to embrace peace. North Rift civil society forum secretary Stephen Ng’ososei said that their objective to preach peace within the district and to unite the two communities bore fruit after the elders expressed their solidarity in the talks. Ngososei added that the civil society forum is mainly targeting the youth in Timboroa and Burnt forest after their involvement in the post election violence. He said they now wait for the government to move the internally displaced persons living in various camps within the province back to their homes before the on-set of rains.   Ends…NICK NYAMAI
