Telcom Kenya plans to conduct structural re-organization of the company aimed at reducing expenditure and staff number. The company currently under privatization of France Telcom is expanding its signal coverage to serve the entire North Rift region. Telcom Kenya North Rift regional Sales Manager Moses Aballo says the telecommunication company is set to import cell phones which will accommodate all mobile service providers including Safaricom and Celtel. Aballo added that they plan to lower costs of Telcom wireless phones and tariffs during this year’s financial year in a bid to attract more customers. Telcom Kenya is currently operating on a 3rd generation mobile communication known as “Code Division Multiple Access” (CDMA) while other mobile phone operators such as Safaricom and Celtel operate on 2nd mobile communication.
