6th annual parliamentary prayers held today

The annual Parliamentary prayer breakfast was held today at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi. The Prayer breakfast was attended by President Mwai Kibaki, Prime Minister Raila Odinga, members of parliament and other government leaders in the prayer service.The prayers are always held a day before madaraka day to be celebrated tomorrow and this is the sixth since its inception. Today’s meeting focused on effects of post poll skirmishes that lead to loss of lives and thousand others being displaced. The Chief Guest at this year’s prayer meeting was Walter Fontry, who was a former member of the American parliament. Also speaking during the prayer meeting, President Mwai Kibaki asked leaders and wananchi to concentrate on rebuilding the nation and forgot about the past. At the same time speaker of the national assembly Kenneth Marende said this is a reflective time for all Kenyans to committee this country before the Lord even as all efforts are being made to bring justice and national healing and reconciliation. Also attending the prayers were ambassadors from different countries, religious leaders among other guests.
