Eldoret to host National World Environment Day celebrations
As the world prepares to commemorate “World Environmental Day” on the 5th of June this year, there is need to create environmental awareness in a bid to curb serious environmental problems experienced in various countries worldwide.In Kenya, the national celebrations will be held in Eldoret, according to Uasin gishu District Environmental officer Michael Komen.
Komen pointed out the need to clean rivers in Kenya, saying they have highly been polluted due to neglect. These include big rivers like Nairobi River and Sosiani River in the North Rift region.Ahead of the celebrations in Eldoret, there will be boda boda competition tomorrow and miss environment beauty pageant Monday evening aimed to create environmental awareness.
