Eldoret municipal council to ban smoking in public places
Eldoret Municipal council is in a plan to set designated smoking zones within the town’s central business district. Addressing journalists at his office Eldoret mayor Samuel Ruto termed smoking in the public and in town’s streets as a bad vice to passers by who end up been affected with the cigarette smoke. Ruto added that areas to be restricted will include public places, health centers, banks and government offices. Other towns which have placed ban of cigarette smoking in public places include Nairobi, Nakuru, and Mombasa. However the mayor revealed that the council is arresting people who have been cutting trees within the municipality in Jerusalem estates.
