Hawkers in Eldoret town cry foul
Hawkers in Eldoret claim they are being harassed by municipal askaris.
Speaking to Fish fm the hawkers said their properties were forcefully being taken away by the askaris. The hawkers have engaged askaris in running battles in the past two weeks. The municipal council has prohibited hawkers from doing business in the central business district but the hawkers said it was unfair for the municipal council allow them to do business outside town.
The hawkers said they were not doing business well when they were outside the central business district. The hawkers now want the municipal council to allow them trade peacefully as they are trying to meet livelihood.
