Debate on Vernacular FM Stations rages on
Kenyans should be allowed to express their views in the on-going Kreiglar public inquiry without intimidation.
The sentiments of Eldoret South Member of Parliament Peris Simam when she she toured Simat location within her constituency.
Simam urged politicians to stay out of the public hearings and allow Kenyans a chance to participate fully.
At the same time, she criticized the move by the government, threatening to shut Kass FM, saying vernacular stations have played the role of educating the masses and supporting the rural folk.
The Member of Parliament challenged that if the station is shut then the remaining vernacular stations ought to be closed as well as they play the same role.
Simam then presented a cheque to Kisor health centre to facilitate the institution’s services.Ends…Kentis
