KACC sues MPs for irregularly receiving money from public funds

Seven Members of Parliament among them a minister have been sued by the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission (KACC) for irregularly receiving money from the public coffers. Those who have been sued are Information Minister Samuel Phoghisio, Mwingi South MP David Musila, former MPs Joseph Kamotho, Peter Oloo Aringo, Daniel Khamasi, Justin Muturi and Parliamentary Committee on CDF chair, Ekwe Ethuro. The personalities are alleged to have received a sum of over 20 million shillings as an allowance for Parliamentary Service Holders between November 2006 and November last year. KACC argues that the allowances were paid in breach of the provisions governing the remuneration of MPs and Members of Parliamentary Service Commissions. The anti graft body claims that the seven improperly used their offices and wrongfully acquired public property. It is now seeking judgement against the seven from the High Court.
