Wareng’ county council on the spot over breach of contract

Wareng County council has been put on the spot after a repeated breach of equipment contract signed with Open Arms International a non governmental organization in Eldoret. Councilors from the Wareng’ county council questioned reasons behind the county council vice chair signing the agreement amounting to 120,000 shillings instead of the clerk. In a letter written by Troy Smith Open Arms International dated 28th November and addressed to the county council chair David Sato, the councilors referred to the repeated breach of equipment by the council’s top officials. The equipment that included a grader, compactor, bulldozer and a lorry were hired for the construction of a 2km road, Eldoret-Kapsabet highway to Mlango falls OAI children’s home. The letter also stated shoddy work which is a breach of the contract signed and threatens to take the council to court.

The councilors now want the chair to call for a special full council meeting within seven days to discuss the issue. They are also calling upon the ministry of local government to conduct an audit.
