Farmers pleased with govt maize buying deal

Farmers in the North Rift are a happy lot after the government agreed to buy their maize at shs. 2,300.

They commended the government’s move to buy their maize at the cost of shs 2,300 up from the earlier stated price of shs 1,950.

They are now calling on the government to accord the same treatment to wheat farmers adding that there is need to revamp the Kenya Farmers association.

Farmers have been hoarding their maize demanding that the government buy it at shs 2360.

They have however stated that they will not take their maize to the national cereals and produce board depot until the government increases the cost to shs 2,500.
