Matatu owners warned against changing routes without permission
Matatu owners association has been warned against changing routes without permission issued by the transport and licensing board.TLB chairman Wilfred Ole Legei says those who will be caught defying the order will be delicensed for a year.Ole Legei added that only TLB is allowed by law to change routes and not Kenya Revenue Authority.The TLB chair has also taken issue with cartels who operate in various towns who he said are picking and dropping passengers at any given point including overloading hence causing accidents.Ole Legei spoke on the first day of issuance of TLB licenses in Eldoret running for the next 2 days.Meanwhile the Chairman Eldoret matatu drivers and conductors association John Bosco Libese is calling on all stakeholders in the matatu industry to follow the laid procedure in acquiring the right licenses and avoid breaking the law.Libese asked the police to embark on crackdown campaign to ensure that town service vehicle drivers and conductors also comply with safety rules and regulations in Eldoret.
