Cholera death toll reaches 41
The death toll from a cholera outbreak in the country has risen to 41 as the government stepped up efforts to contain the disease. Public Health Minister Beth Mugo today said that 72 other people suffering from the disease had been admitted to various hospitals in the country. Addressing a press conference, Mugo said the government had spent over 9 Million Shillings in efforts to control the spread of the disease. The Minister said public health officers were on high alert, adding that a total of sixteen districts had been affected by outbreak of the disease. The highest cases of cholera outbreak had earlier been reported in Kisumu East with 229 followed by Machakos with 177.
