IIEC Chairman expected
Interviews for the position of chair to the Interim Independent Electoral Commission were set for today. This is after the submission last week of 12 short listed candidates to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitution. Three contenders’ notably veteran lawyer Pheroze Nowrojee and city lawyer Cecil Miller have dropped off the race owing to alleged political influence. Allegations that the process was interfered with politically have been downplayed by ODM and PNU seen to marshal support for their side. The process of interviewing 12 candidates is expected to produce the qualified name which will then be forwarded to parliament when it resumes for endorsement.
