No payment no job
300 youth from Langas Estate in Eldoret who were taking part in the implementation of the Kazi Kwa Vijana programme stormed the Eldoret municipal council this morning demanding their payment. Addressing the press, the youth spokesman Joshua Machuki, said their councilor Francis Muya together with the Eldoret Municipal council have not paid them their dues for the last 30 days which is totaling to 7,500 shillings per head.
Machuki said they had downed their tools before but the council pleaded with them to keep on working promising to solve the matter before they complete the duration.
He said that the council has been postponing their payment claiming that the ministry of Local government has not released the funds to them.
Meanwhile, the vice chairman of Langas development committee Abraham Kafuliwa accepted the allegations saying that the youth will be paid before the end of this week. Efforts to reach Langas ward councilor to respond on this matter were fruitless.
