Government officials asked to take youth issues seriously
Just a day after youth from Langas estate in Eldoret who are involved in the implementation of the Kazi Kwa Vijana initiative took to the streets demanding their pay, it has been revealed that the ministry of finance had already disbursed the funds but there was a communication breakdown on how the money would reach the individuals. The provincial youth director from the ministry of youth affairs and sports Party Mulumu said that the concerned leaders need to take government policies concerning the youth seriously and ensure that they communicate to them accordingly. The director also noted that there was no solid agreement at the initial stage of the implementation of the Kazi Kwa vijana programme on whether the youth were going to be paid daily, weekly or after a month. He was however quick to assure the youth that they will be paid their dues. At the same time Mulumu commended that Eldoret municipality for being the first one in implementing the project and challenged other municipalities in the country to follow suit.
