Maize uprooted over land dispute.

Eldoret residents living behind Eldoret New KCC are crying foul after maize and beans plantation in what they have called their farms were uprooted.

The residents who spoke to Fish FM today said that they were recently informed that the land where they have lived for over 50 years has been sold to the Kerio Valley Development Authority-KVDA for 6 million shillings.

One of the residents who spoke to Fish FM said they had been warned not to plant any crop on the farm after the current crops were harvested later this year, but to their amazement, the plantations have been uprooted before harvest time.

Their efforts to take their complaints to the area District Commissioner today morning were fruitless forcing them to seek help from the Kapsoya location Chief Musa Kitanyi who in turn referred them back to the DC saying that the matter was above his powers.

For now the residents are asking the government to intervene in the situation and help them.
