Electoral reforms needed in Kenya
There are more calls for reforms to be made in the electoral system of this country, Leaders from the Africa Peace Forum have said.
The leaders who were meeting with members of the public from different ethnic background at the Eldoret town hall said poor electoral systems led to the post election violence that rocked the country early last year.
The leaders sought to find out reforms to be made that will help future elections to be held peacefully.
Speaking during the meeting held in Eldoret, the coordinator of the project dubbed “a peoples voice on the electoral reform agenda” George Kabunga said the reforms that are expected to be done are aimed at minimizing possibilities of another conflict in future.
Kabunga revealed that they are going to partner with peace building organizations in Eldoret town to create a stronger union that will be able to confront politicians, members of Kenya law reforms and inter religious council as they present their findings on the causes of last years conflict that needs to be dealt with.
They held the one day meeting in Eldoret considering that it was one of the towns that was badly affected by the post election violence.
